Bubbles

Rebecca received a huge bubble wand in her egg hunt goody bag. She decided to give it a try yesterday. You're never too old to have fun with bubbles.

Easter

We spent Easter in Westminster, SC with Eric's mother. It has been a tradition since Rebecca was just 6 months old. Rebecca looks forward to dyeing eggs with Granna. This year was no exception. Granna usually calls and asks Rebecca how many eggs she wants. This year it was 3 dozen. Rebecca enjoyed making the pretty colors and lining them up just so. She also enjoyed the 3 egg hunts she did. One was Eric's cousins house. We hadn't seen Mike since before we got married. He now has a little boy and wanted to get the family together. We enjoyed being around all of Eric's cousins. Granna called one of the neighbors and asked if her grandkids could come down to the house for an egg hunt. There were three of them that hunted for Rebecca's pretty eggs. They had a good time and only one of them got stepped on and smashed. Rebecca asked her daddy to hide them one more time just for her. So she did an egg hunt all by herself. I think she enjoyed that one the most. It was a beautiful day and we all enjoyed being outside.

Spring Concert

One of the classes Rebecca chose to take this year was violin. The children star in two performances each year. The second concert was held last week. It's amazing how far they have come since December. We're proud of Rebecca's accomplishments on the violin.

Rebecca is ready to play.

What a great surprise when we arrived at the concert. We found out that some students from Red Bank Elementary would be performing with the Saxe Gotha children. Our strings teacher is shared between the two schools. I was excited about seeing one of my former students and a former day care friend of Rebecca's, Sam Fanning. He played the bass with the strings. I couldn't resist a picture of Sam and Rebecca.

The Traveling Brown's

My mom and dad called earlier this week to make reservations at our house for Saturday night. They were going to stop through Lexington on their way to Orlando, Fl and other places.

They came in around lunch time on Saturday. We watched college basketball during the afternoon. Dad had told us to pick a place to go eat and he would treat. We had discussed taking them to a Japanese restaraunt, but didn't know if they liked it. When I mentioned it to mom, she laughed. They passed a Japanese restaraunt on their way in to Lexington and talked about taking us so that Rebecca could watch the show. So...it was unanimous, we went to Sumo's. Our cook did an awesome job. He was funny and very entertaining.

We returned home to watch The Big Orange play. However, there were storms in the area and all that was on t.v. was weather reports. We did finally find the game, but were disappointed in the results.

We always love when mom and dad visit. Come back soon!

Margaret Visits

Our special "family" member, Margaret visited during her spring break from UNC. She and I spent Saturday night watching the Tar Heels beat Duke. Then we laughed through Media's Family Reunion. Eric and Rebecca came home on Sunday and the girls went on a shopping spree while Eric watched the race on his new t.v. Margaret had us watch Media Goes To Jail on Sunday night. I have never heard Eric laugh so hard in my life.

On Monday, Margaret went to school with us. Believe it or not, she was on time to walk out the door with us at 6:50. She was a big help in my class. She made a special sign to go with my Dr. Seuss display. She got to meet Rebecca's friends at lunch time. She decided to sleep in on Tuesday. She made it to school around lunch time. After school, Rebecca and Margaret went to the movies and the mall. They enjoyed their special time together.

We hated to say good-bye to her on Wednesday. We can't wait until the summer when she plans to stay for a week.

We love you, Margaret!

New Toys for Eric

Eric finally has his own toys. We used our income tax return to purchase a new flat screen t.v., sound system, and dvd player. Eric couldn't wait to crank up the sound system on race day. He was like a little kid in a candy shop. He loved the sound of speed.

Field Trip to Charleston

Rebecca's fifth grade class took a field trip to Charleston, SC. Rain was in the forecast, but we went anyway. We loaded up with rain gear and hit the streets. We started off with a ghost tour of downtown. Very interesting and full of neat information. Then, we were treated to a carraige ride around downtown. We saw many of the beautiful homes and the battery. Before heading to lunch, we took a quick trip through the slave market and then the candy store. We ate lunch at Waterfront Park and then headed to The Isle of Palms. For many of the children, this was their first time seeing the ocean. Although it was cold and a little rainy, they wanted to put their feet in the water. I'm sure for many of them, the beach was the highlight of their trip. We were rained on a few times, but still managed to enjoy ourselves.
