Cousins

My nephew, Jordan, is here for his annual summer "vacation". He has stayed a week with us every summer since he was 3. We always look forward to his visits. He just chills, eats, and sleeps. This year, we have a new twist....a pool. He plans to spend the week in the pool. Okay by me.

Rebecca loves for him to visit. They push each other's buttons all week. Jordan calls Rebecca Squirt. She says she doesn't like it, but we know better.

My sister, Jennifer, brought Jordan down yesterday. Logan came, too, but wasn't allowed to stay. We can't wait for him to be able to stay with us. While he was here, he LOVED the pool. Jennifer and I enjoyed listening to him. He used a float as a pirate ship. He enjoyed a noodle fight with Jordan. He loved going from the steps to the ladder. I'm sure he slept well last night.

Rebecca couldn't wait to help Logan swim.

This one's for you, Momma Hope.

S'more Fun

Our friends, Trevor, Michele, and Courtney visited over the weekend from N.C. They took Rebecca to Six Flags for two days and came back to the house on Saturday. We spent the day catching up and touring the town. That night, we grilled delicous steaks and pigged out on all of the food the men cooked. The evening ended with a fire in our backyard pit. It was a perfect evening for roasting marshmellows and eating s'mores. This was the first time Eric had ever eaten a s'more. He liked them more than he thought he would.

Here are a couple of extra photos of our fun.

Courtney and Rebecca ready to swim.

I worked very hard roasting the marshmellows to a golden brown. Just as I pulled them up to eat them, they fell right into the fire. I was pretty sad. Can't you tell by the face?!!

There's one thing we all agreed on sitting around the fire...There's nothing better than food, friends, and fun.

Hoping more of you will come visit.

Do You Hear It?

It's the sound of quiet. DD left yesterday for a 3 day trip to Six Flags with a friend. It is nice and quiet in the house. Am I taking full advantage of it? Absolutely not. I find myself glued to this computer. I'm telling myself...step away from the computer. Step away from the computer. Step away from the computer.

Happy Birthday, America

While celebrating our nations birthday, I took some time to reflect on why I love America. Here are my top 10 reasons:
10. I can select who I marry. I couldn't have found a better mate. I love you, Eric.
9. I can have as many/little children as Iwant and it doesn't matter which sex they are. They'll be accepted by soceity no matter what. I love you, Rebecca.
8. I have the opportunity to work in a field that I love. My precious students are the future of this country. What better opportunity to shape and mold them.
7. I can have the friends I want.

6. I can go to the store and shop when I want to, not when the government tells me I have to.

5. I pay taxes to have great schools and communities to provide wonderful opportunities for my child.

4. I can travel, go to the movies, swim in my pool, scrapbook, or do anything I want to do.

3. I can worship the way I want to worship.

2. I have health care that allows me to live without the fear of disease.
1.I have brave men and women that fight for my freedom everyday. They make the ultimate sacrifice to enable me to live this wonderful life.

Our family had a low key Fourth of July. We attended the local Peach Festival and watched fireworks that night. We all enjoyed a dip in the pool~even the dog.

Eric and Rebecca enjoying the cool water.

Rebecca loves for Eric to throw her in the water.

Levi wasn't too sure about his ride.

A Dream Come True

Do you remember as a small child dreaming of the house you would live in one day? Well I can tell you that it has taken 4 houses to finally get to what I consider my "dream home". Eric and I started out in a 1200 sq. foot home that you had to turn sideways in the hallway just to pass each other. Okay, maybe not that bad, but small. We were proud homeowners though. When we moved to Lexington the first time, we bought a fixer upper and had about 1500 square feet. It was a great house for Rebecca to toddle in. We moved back to Kenansville and bought an 1800 square footer this time. It was another fixer upper but we now had his/hers dens. Eric even had his own building to play in. When we decided to move back to Lexington, we gave the realator a price range to find homes in. Guess what...we made a huge jump this time. We went to a two story, 2600 square foot home with a swimming pool. Let's just say that I still wake up at night thinking, do I really deserve something like this? Each home has served a great purpose, but this one is a dream come true to me. The best part....no fixing it up!!!!!

Our realator, Cindy, came over this past weekend to make a virtual tour for us to share with our friends and family. It's just a glimpse of our new abode. Enjoy!!

I've been a lurker of blogs for quite a while now. I just never started one because I don't think I'm a good writer. When I read others, I think~I don't have that much to say. However, I just moved (again) and a dear friend said "Try it. It's fun." So here it is~Kelli's Korner in the blog world.
