3rd Trip's A Charm

Eric and I have kept Lexington Medical Center in business this past month. Eric went to the ER with back pain so bad he could hardly walk. Then, I though I was having a heart attack. After a trip to the ER, I found out I was o.k. Last Monday, Eric was coming down our stairs and decided to slip down 7 of them and hit the dog gate at the bottom of the stairs. He somehow cut his foot on the dog gate. I took him to urgent care where he proceeded to get 4 stiches under his toe. I told him that our family was done with the emergency room.

Wash That Grey Right Out of My Hair-NOT

I have tried to color my hair for several years now. However, I am highly allergic to something in the dye. I have been to the emergency room twice with my entire head burned, swollen, and eyes almost closed shut. Not a pretty sight.

I finally gave up on trying to dye my hair the last time I was at the emergency room. However, this past week, my best friend from high school sent me an email about going green. She is currently reading a book about going green. In it, the author talks about beauty products and the chemicals they contain. Rebecca sent me a link to the author's web site which had a link to a lady that has formulated a hair dye out of all natural products. It doesn't contain any ammonia. I emailed the lady and asked if she would send a sample for me to try a patch test. I received it in the mail on Friday. I applied about a half dollar size area of the dye on my arm. Within 2 hours my arm was bright red, swollen, and itchy. It had also made a symmetrical area from where my arm bent and the dye hit the other part of my arm. Needless to say...I'm allergic to the all natural dye. I will just have to grow grey gracefully.

Go Huskies

Rebecca enjoyed her first pep rally today. Her drama teacher was painting faces in the cafeteria, so Rebecca joined in on the fun. She had a paw print on one cheek and Go _ _ MS on her other cheek. She was very proud of herself.

Eric and I asked her if they had a spirit contest. She said she didn't know what that was. Eric told her it's where each grade level yells to see which group is the loudest. She said the sixth graders didn't really catch on to that. I'm sure it will come more natural to them the next time.

Future Teachers

Rebecca was able to stay at school with me today for about 2 hours. Her school was on a late arrival schedule in order to give teachers time to get together and do some collaborative planning. She decided to come help me instead of sleeping late and letting her friend's grandmother take them to school. She wanted to get to know my kids.

She fell in love with them. I put her to work as soon as we got to school. She helped the children paint tree trunks for a fall tree project we're working on. Her friend, Lexi, came and helped after helping her mom in the office. Lexi took pictures of the kids for me and then helped Rebecca with the tree trunks. They really enjoyed helping out and want to come back next month on collaborative planning day. We welcome the help any time!!

Green Thumb

I usually have a "black" thumb. Growing any type of plant is just not my thing. We planted the mandivilla at the beginning of the summer. It finally started taking off in the last few weeks. The reason...lots of rain!! So....
Mom, this one is for you!!
