Senior Year-1983

1. Who was your best friend?
Rebecca Glover. We became good friends during the 8th grade. She was on the drill team and I was a cheerleader. We both worked at Mickey D's. We wound up rooming together in college.
2. Did you play any sports?
I was a cheerleader. Back in the good ole days, we cheered for football and basketball. I was know as the one with the loud mouth.
3. What kind of car did you drive?
My mom and dad bought my first car for $500 with the change that my dad saved. It was a blue Honda Coupe. It was soooo tiny. I never new where it would be in afternoons when I went to get in my car. The football team loved to "play" with it. They would put it in the back end of a pickup truck or put the right side up on the curb. Not the prettiest of cars, but it got me where I needed to go.
4. It’s Friday night. Where were you?
At a football game or basketball game cheering. Afterwards, we would go eat pizza.
5. Were you a party animal?
Nope. I was know as miss goody too shoes. I was teased and left out because of it. I didn't really fit in with the cheerleaders because I didn't do all of the partying.
6. Were you considered a flirt?
Probably with people I was comfortable with.
7. Were you in the band, orchestra or choir?
Not in high school. I played the flute in the 7th grade.
8. Were you a nerd? Book wise, no. Following the crowd and drinking/smoking/sleeping around, yes.
9. Were you ever suspended or expelled? I was a rule follower, so no. It was probably magnified because of what my older brother put my parents through.
10. Can you sing the fight song? Yep!
11. Who was your favorite teacher? Probably Ms. Henson. She inspired me to go into education.
12. What was your school mascot? Panther
13. Did you go to the Prom? I did my senior year with my middle school guidance counselor's step son. He was in college at the time. We had fun, but never heard from him again. Looking back, I can't imagine that a high school prom when you're a freshman in college was too much fun.
14. If you could go back, would you? If I could have the knowledge about relationships that I have now, I would love to go back and redo things. I guess that's the best part of growing up...you continue to learn.
15. What do you remember most about graduation? I had to welcome everyone. We also went to Panama City afterwards for a week. There were about 8 girls that went. We had a blast.
16. Where were you on Senior Skip Day? Um.... at school. LOL! (Told ya I was a rule follower!)
17. Did you have a job your senior year?
Yep. I worked at McDonald's. I would leave school around 11:00 and work the rush hour until 2:00. Then it was back to school for cheerleading practice.
18. Where did you go most often for lunch? The cafeteria. We had a closed campus, and couldn't leave for lunch.
19. Have you gained weight since then? uh. Yah. WAY TO MUCH.
20. What did you do after high school? I went to Georgia Southern College.

School's In

We started school this past Wednesday. Rebecca is in the fifth grade this year. It's hard to believe that she only has one more year to be at the same school as me. I know we will both cherish that time!

She has a male teacher, Mr. Mishoe. So far she really likes him. (Except for the fact that he is a big Gamecock fan and has garnet and black all over the room.) She is meeting new friends and adjusting to a new schedule. She came into my class on Friday and said, "I guess I did learn something in NC. I was the only person to get a question correct in math class today." We had to call her teacher from last year and thank her! She is going to be in a strings music class. We went today to rent her violin. I can't wait to see her progress with it.

This year, Rebecca had poses that she wanted to do for her back to school pictures. Here is one of them.

The Dog Days of Summer

With the above 100 temps here in Lexington, the dogs have suffered. With their long coats, they get really hot. Eric has been hosing them down at night to help cool them off.

D.J. loves the hose. He just flops down for Eric to hose him off.

D.J. and Daisy

Daisy doesn't like to be hosed down. She will run from Eric when she sees the hose in his hand. He caught her for a minute and attempted to wet her down. She took off running.
Levi

Levi had to get into the action, too. He loves to get wet....and then roll in the dirt.

There's nothing like having a dog as a pet. Just remember to keep them cool in the heat.
