Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to all of the moms in the world.

I am lucky to be a mom to a 10 year old. Rebecca brings me a lot of joy in life. She is a good combination of me and Eric. She has Eric's boisterous way of talking when in public. However, she has my worrying trait. I am definately getting a taste of my own medicine in the worrying department. She was also called "serious" the other day by one of her friends. All I could think was no, not serious. Have fun in life. It's too short. I was soooo serious in high school and college. It wasn't until after Rebecca was born that I began to loosen up. I still walk the line, but also have a good time.

My Mother's Day began on Friday. Eric spoiled me all weekend! He fixed all of the food, did the laundry, and took Rebecca and her friend to the Poultry Festival while I chilled at home. They treated me to lunch and a movie today. We ate at San Jose (my favorite). Then we headed to the movies to see What Happens In Vegas. We all enjoyed our relaxing day. They also spoiled me with some presents. They got me a Ped Egg to help make my heels look and feel smooth. I also got a special lamp for my desk to use when I do crafts. (The name of it escapes me right now.) I also got 3 pretty shirts. They are in the prettiest spring colors. I can't wait to wear them.

I didn't get to see my mom today. I did talk to her for about 15 minutes. I miss living closer to her. I hope she enjoys her present. It didn't arrive on time, so I hope it gets there tomorrow. I love you, Mom!!

It's Official

Where does time go? We received Rebecca's middle school schedule in the mail today. It seems like just yesterday we were sending her off to kindergarten. Of course, we didn't get to see it first. She took it, ran upstairs with cell phone in hand, and called her friend, Lexi, to compare notes. Look out, Huskies, here they come!!

The First Swim of the Season

Rebecca has been begging for a month now to go swimming. We have told her over and over that the water was too cold. Eric has worked hard to get the pool swim ready. The temperature hit the mid 80's yesterday, so a swim was in order. Rebecca and Lexi were very brave to get in the cold water. It didn't seem to bother them. They played for over an hour.

A Star of the Walk of Fame

Miss Respectful

Our school has implemented a special program to recognize children that follow the 3 school rules. Each month one of the rules is emphasized. Each class votes for a student that they feel exemplifies the rule. For the month of April, our rule was Being Respectful. We are proud to announce that Rebecca was selected by her peers to be the class recipient of the award. She was honored, along with the other fifth grade recipients, at lunch today. Each child was presented a star that will be displayed on a "Walk of Fame". It is a spin off of the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

We are very proud of Rebecca and look forward to her demonstrating this rule at home!!
